Ulrich Bindseil has been Director General for Market Infrastructure and Payments at the ECB since November 2019. Previously, he was Director General for Market Operations for seven years, Deputy Director General in the same business area for 3 years. and Head of Risk Management for four years. He began his career at the Deutsche Bundesbank in 1994 after studying economics and earning his doctorate in Saarbrücken. He has been an honorary professor at the TU Berlin since 2010.
