Dr. Pierre Clarel Catherine, currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology, Mauritius, has dedicated a significant portion of his career to academia. After completing his BEng in Electronic and Communication Engineering, he pursued and achieved a PhD in Communications Engineering, both from the University of Mauritius. His post-doctoral fellowship followed at the same institution.
In his professional journey, Clarel transitioned from roles in the corporate sector, including positions at Data Communications Limited and Huawei Technologies, to academia. He has served as a lecturer at the University of Technology, Mauritius for over a decade, preceded by part-time teaching roles.
Dr. Catherine’s research contributions are evident through his publications: 1 book chapter, 6 international journal papers, and 24 conference proceedings. He has been actively involved in significant projects, including the implementation of a Mauritian NREN Project and an initiative for IoT development in Mauritian universities. As an academic, he has supervised several MPhil and PhD candidates to success.
He also boasts various technical certifications, ranging from blockchain technology to IoT. Clarel’s excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including the CEO Global Titans Building Nations awards and the Best Mauritian Scientist Award. He is also an esteemed member of the IEEE community, having achieved the rank of Senior Member in 2016.
