Hailu Jelde Wedaj
Mayor of Adama City

Hailu Jelde Wedajo, currently serving as the Mayor of Adama City, has held a range of leadership positions in Oromia. Formerly the Commissioner of the Oromia Investment Commission, Hailu has been a member of the Oromia People Representative Council (Chaffee) since 2009 and joined the Prosperity Party Central Committee in 2021. He has been recognized for his initiatives in sustainable urban development, with “Smart Adama” being a notable project under his guidance.

Hailu’s leadership journey encompasses roles such as the Commissioner of the Oromia Investment Commission, an adviser at the Party Head Office at the regional level, various positions within the Zonal Administration, head of the Woreda Education office, a school director, and earlier in his career, a teacher of physics and mathematics.

On the educational front, Hailu holds a MA in International Economics from the University of International Business & Economics in Beijing, China, and a BA in Mathematics from Mekelle University, Ethiopia.
