Charlotte Lau
Master’s Student at the University of Applied Science, Berlin

Charlotte Lau contributed to the SeaLevelR(a)ise project during her first
master’s year at the University of Applied Science Berlin (HTW Berlin).
After serving as a volunteer in a reforestation project in the Dominican
Republic for a year, she started her bachelor’s degree at Reutlingen
University in “International Project Engineering”. While programming robots
during one of her courses, she discovered her interest in programming and
computer science. After completing her bachelor’s thesis on the topic of
enterprise architecture management, she completed multiple computer science
courses at Technical University Berlin, before starting her master’s degree
in “Environmental Computer Science”. SeaLevelR(a)ise is a prototype to
demonstrate a fully transparent donation process using blockchain technology
and smart contracts. It addresses the funding problem of small states which
struggle to collect money to finance projects against the negative impacts
of climate change.
